OralDNA

At our office, we use OralDNA LabsTM laboratory services to ensure we are giving our patients the best oral health information possible. OralDNA LabsTM is a specialty diagnostics company designed to provide reliable, definitive and cost effective clinical tests that guide oral health professionals in detecting and prognosing disease at an earlier, more treatable stage.

We offer two Diagnostic tests in our office:

MyPerioPath® - Determines the cause of periodontal infections
This test identifies the type and concentration of specific perio-pathogenic bacteria that are known to cause periodontal disease.
Who should be tested:

  • Patients presenting with signs and symptoms of a periodontal infection
  • Patients with pockets of 4mm or greater with clinical signs of a periodontal infection
  • Patients presenting chronic periodontal disease who is not responding positively to
    their current treatment
  • Patients with Type I or Type II diabetes
  • Patients with a history of Cardiovascular disease
  • Patients who use tobacco products
  • Patients that will undergo surgical procedures or radiation treatment
  • Can be used as a "Baseline" for any patient that may be at increased risk for
    periodontal infections
  • Patients who test positive for genetic susceptibility with the MyPerioID® PST® test
  • Women of child bearing age

OraRisk® HPV - Determines who is at increased risk for HPV-related oral cancers
This test is anon-invasive, easy-to-use screening tool to identify the type(s) of HPV, a mucosal viral infection that could potentially lead to oral cancer.
Who should be tested:

  • Patients who are sexually active
  • Patients with signs and symptoms of oral cancer
  • Patients with traditional risk factors for oral cancer
  • Patients with suspicious oral lesions
